Gulches (pre-Windrock) testing session

I was using auto for everything up until now. I started reading up some on aperature, shutter speed, and focal length and the gulches trip was a test all settings kind of trip. I want to get a better so I can capture some of the fall colors we will get come october.
I'm still having issues with depth of field while keeping the objects from blurring as they move.
If I'm taking photos of stationary objects and scenery I can do pretty good, but moving stuff kicks my ***. especially in low light...like gulches in the rain haha.
