So with my radiator hard mounted i found that my frame isn’t as ridgid as I thought, I had a small leak last time out which I attributed to a loose radiator hose clamp, but that was not the case. So I’ve added somemore tube to help stiffen things up. If this doesn’t work then I’ll be pulling the radiator out and redoing the mounts with a bushings to allow it to “float” and not crack. Also have a ton of clearance between steering resi and one of the tubes 👀…
Oh it definitely needs a swaybar will be putting a TK1 on it. Only a matter of time and money. I’ve also never used a suspension calculator, just also put things where they fit so I’m sure it could be better but it works.
So after fixing to front to stiffen things up, I took it for a drive and so far so good, no leaks from the radiator! Unfortunately When you fix something, something else always breaks and I had to replace the front pinion seal. Easy task right?! Wrong all the bolts on the pinion yoke stripped and I had to weld nuts to all but one to get them out. No that’s done and I can carry on to fixing my steering. So after much debate I decided to ditch the 8 inch double ended ram since I still needed to rebuild it and buy clamps and I ordered a 10 inch PSC double ended from summit racing with clamps for 300 bucks. A little more than I wanted to spend but it’ll. Be worth it in the end. There was just to much steering left on the table and a 10 inch will relinquish the full 50° that this axle is capable of.
Just be careful on the send pedal when you have that steering ability. Not sure what axle joints you're running but that's the easiest way to send one into the crowd.

Whatever came in the shafts is what is in there likely not full circle clips but I will probably end up tacking the caps in just to be safe. I’ve got to do something because 10 point turning on the trail to turn around or do a 3 point turn just to make an easy right turn ain’t cutting it. Can I buy full circle clips or do I have to buy the whole joint?
After looking closer it doesn’t seem that the factory 1550 shaft will accept full circle clips. Looks as if it has a step up in the shaft, where as a chromoly shaft is probably machined to accept full circle clips. So I absolutely will be racking the caps in place.
Well I pulled the radiator out this morning and cut the old mounts off and welded in patch plates over where I cut the old mounts off. Now to figure out the new mounts and get it all drawn and cut out on the plasma table.
Well I got my radiator back in today. The bottom mounts were honestly probably enough to hold it in place once all then coolant and trans cooler lines were hooked back up it didn’t move but I wanted to be sure so I whipped these little mounts up for the top that will use hose clamps to keep it from coming up. Need to get some shorter hose clamps but all in all this is going to work out fantastic. Be ready to ride in no time! Who’s up for a gulches day trip?!
