Mean Green

Well they showed up today! Tried to post a pic although this tapatalk thingy is not wanting to cooperate. Will post one later. No more procrastinating now. I guess I should just haul my Jeep over to Shop Ram-Rod and finish it in his shop since its too cold for him to use:la:

Bring it on over and just drop it off. I will finish it up for you for a small fee

somethings tells me you might need to add motor mount spacers to get the driveline angle back in check after raising the angle with the new trans mount. Might be something that you need to look into, as the angle of the motor-trans-tcase can lead to binding your rear CV up when you rear axle droops. I had to mess with some things to get my driveline angle in check with the raised mount for the 44RE, stak, and belly up skid combo.
Words of wisdom.

My motor started knocking/ticking once reaching 200 degrees and I can not feel anything in bottom end or on valve covers. I also noticed that my motor mounts look different all of the sudden, almost as if they are all cracked although motor is steady as ever. I had to stop working on it before I could really inspect the mount for cracks or just stretch marks. I also realized that the fan was not spinning and I have never seen that fan not turning. Its jammed into the shroud. Apparently the having jacked the case up a couple of inches has stretched the motor mounts and caused the fan to now contact the lower half of the shroud. I am hoping that ticking could somehow be the clutch fan trying to engage but I have no clue. I'm at a toss up if I should try the mm lift and hope there is enough room to complete it without clearancing the tub more which I have no time to do or just clearance the fan shroud and hope the motor mounts are ok enough for a trip. That Murphy guy was pretty smart.

About the ticking/knocking. When was the last time you cranked it and how thick of oil is in it. Also how long did you let it run? My TJ ticks some if I don't drive it every day and it's cold in the morning. I would think the fan would clearance a plastic shroud itself, but I could be wrong.

I raised my T-case 3-4 inches in my 4runner and had no issues. Not saying it was the correct way of doing things, but it worked.

I did bust one radiator. But I think that had more to do with the battery breaking the mount and slamming into the radiator knocking it into the fan on 3D at Gulchs "after lunch". I also pancaked a wheel that day too.

Cranked 4 times since Windrock. I run Lucas oil additive, the gooh, so I would imaging the oil is very thick. This motor has had ticks when cold but not hot. Maybe its nothing to worry about, exhaust leak or something, which I have for sure. I had a 4.2 that did same thing and threw a rod a couple of weeks later so it just concerns me a bit. I did pour about a quart of water out of the air intake at Windrock last time it ran. I still don't know how it didnt reach the engine then. Maybe it did.

Oh yea, I know why it didn't reach the engine. Because the exhaust was so crushed that it shut the motor down before it could suck the rain water that the cowl intake was funneling.
