Dana 44 tech

Axle is geared, and all put together. Here is a random pic after the regear.

Then I put the diff cover on to find that it doesn't clear the ring gear bolts so I had to take out a little of material to get it to clear

Then got started on the truss and burned the coil buckets in. Didn't realize they were 3/8 steel, complete over kill so I connected the truss to it.

Here is where I stopped tonight. Front end is getting ripped apart tomorrow. :cheers2:

The 3/8" steel for the coil spring welded to the axle tube on one side and then welded to cast on the other is beef enough. There isn't really any torsion on the perch.

I think its fine for the coil bucket, I would just be worried if he had the lower control arm mounted the same way.
 
my control arm mount is mounted half on the cast and tied into the coil bucket that is half on the cast. No reason to be worried the world is starting to end tomorrow anyway.
