I have been keeping my eye out for an XJ for a few years but the pricing on one that hasn't been beaten....well like and XJ was absurd in my opinion. I know some folks don't care for them but they have always been one of my favorite jeep models. My first wife and I had one while in college and loved it dearly. Well my brother in law was picking up a durango from a guy in Georgia and saw he had two XJs on the property. Long story short got both of them for $500. The guys daughter got in a fender bender and bought the 4 door as a donor. Project never got off the ground and just wanted them gone. The 2WD I will be completing has a low miles 4.0 and is 2 wd. Once I get back from Vegas, family will be going down to strip the donor of all the goodies and 4wd parts and driving the 2wd home.
Plan is to turn this into a fun vehicle for Madi to get back to driving a jeep while teaching the boys how to wrench and eventually learn to drive in. So first up is fixing all the cosmetic stuff and making sure its mechanically sound. Madi has picked out an interesting color scheme from Monstaliner(hence the project name). Then the conversion to 4wd will commence! Plan on making this little jeep a good kayak hauler/overlander build. Should be fun!
