Overhead console ideas

Looking for something to use as an overhead console in the jeep. I have about 8" wide to work with. Length could be a wide range depending on what it is. I'd like some kind of flip down sunglasses holder, and it wouldn't hurt to be some kind of secure storage like a tuffy type console.

Anybody seen anything that might work? From junkyard console that fits a flat roof, to a pistol box safe that could be mounted upside down.

I settled on doing an aluminum plate overhead with a grid of mounting holes to be able to attach pretty much anything, similar to what @Twilliamson did in his jeep. What I was actually doing when I found out my hardtop wouldn't latch with the cage was checking that everything I was doing with the plate cleared.

I'm using tube clamps that are meant to hold a light bar to mount it. I tapped the plate for the mounting bolts.

Now to draw out the grid and get to drilling and tapping.

I went over to Tripp's today and we drilled and tapped the grid in the plate. I have a little bit of cleanup work to do, then can lay out what's being mounted on it.

that turned out nice! did you find a lockable box that fit like you wanted?
I had an epiphany today. The picture is a MOLLE admin pouch and it fits pretty well between the tubes. Then I found a company with blemish rigid MOLLE panels. I'll put a MOLLE panel on it with a small standoff, then i can add any combination of accessories (pouches, etc.) for sunglasses or whatever. It won't be lockable, but much more functional and customizable.
