I knew when i got the crusier it needed a rear bumper and tire carrier. Today I finally got to working on it. I decided to remove the rear crossmember entirely and repalce it with 2x4 square tube and put a reciever in it. I didnt want an aftermarket hitch to hit obstacles. For the bumper I am using 4x4 1/4 inch angle iron to cover over the crossmember and extend past it. I will box the anlge at the ends and add my spindle for the tire carrier from it. But I started and will keep at it.
Truck with stock crossmember
Cut off
New crossmember put in place
Angle Bumper covering it.
I still dont have it welded on yet, i will do it tomorrow hopefully. I will add bracing for the crossmember, but it being 1/4 inch thick it is so much heavier than the stock one
