Dana 44 tech

#62
I actually looked this up last night and have it pulled up on my computer. I found two places that will do it 50-60 bucks I believe. One of which is the company that makes the high steer arms like brooks has, google behind the axle high steer Dana 44 and it should come up. Thinking they say throw knuckle or knuckles in a flat rate box ship it to them and it usually goes back out within 24 hrs.

Brooks I know I've asked before, but would you post up pics of your steering set up.

I like that my knuckles have 4 studs instead of 3. Wonder if you can get that done to a stock flat top?

I never thought about the 4 bolt, is the arm your running Marcus specifically for a Reid knuckle?

Also brooks, why did you decide to run the steering arms you did? I saw on there website they use a bigger spacer then regular which would seem to me you'd loose an inch of uptravel, I do like how it gets tierod out of weigh and seems to be easier to mount an assist ram.

I had killed two steering stablizers mounted in front, so I wanted to put my steering ram behind the axle, and this was the only Way I knew how.

Ya I'm pretty sure. He ghetto'd up spring retainer wall around the pad. I cut the upper off of it and started messing with a truss but think I may buy synergy's 44 truss that ties diff into the truss and also saves me trying to fab one up, should be cleaner as well.

He had it in an xj I believe then that xj wagoneer. Ill see if I can find some better pics of it on my old computer.

all my parts came in today

and this comparison doesn't show too much. but that is a stock 3.73 8.8 pinion next to the new 44 pinion. You can see the contact patch on the 8.8 is much bigger, and the pinion shaft is bigger too. so that shows the reason on why i personally chose an 8.8 in the rear of mine over a 44. obviously the 8.8 pinion head is going to be much bigger cause there are more teeth on a 3.73 pinion than a 4.56 pinion though

now time to just play the waiting game until i can build it and get it in. still got a few more parts to get such as diff cover, spring perches and synergy high clearance lower frame mounts.

ordered a ruffstuff 3/8's diff cover today with their offset coil buckets! I chose a welded diff cover so i can weld my hydro assist mount onto it when i get to that for 1, and for 2 it aint cast.
