Hi-Lift Jacks

#1
So, I think I need a Hi-Lift Jack, my rear tire carrier has a nice integrated mount, and nobody in our group usually carries one, with our upcoming trip i guess I'm it...Looking at the different versions currently offered. I'm leaning toward the x-treme 48 inch. Anybody know if the Zinc coating actually holds up? Or should i just get one of the standard models? I see they have a Cast Steel and a All Cast version. Nothing that I'm seeing really talks about what version is really better. I know Zinc Coating typically holds up really well in the elements. Someone educate me.

For our trip, you can carry my off brand one and I'll carry the hi lift brand one. If you don't want to go out and buy one.

The offbrand one I have came from one of those tool sales at the armory and works much better than the actual high lift version.

The High Lift version is nice to have because the handle comes off. I actually use the handle tube more than the jack. Most of the knock offs have a one piece handle.

Just clean your jack every three months or so and make usre to hit it with silicone or other lube to keep it not locked up

I don't plan to leave it out in the elements, only toss it on when Im going on a trip. For what i would ever need, i think the bottle jack under the seat would actually cover me. I mean i guess i could order some hood mounts and throw it up on the hood....I KID I KID lol....

I've been thinking about this since I started planning my new lift. If you need to change a tire, sometimes a jack under the axle is what you need. I have some aluminum tubing I'm going to use to build a light, strong spacer to go under a bottle jack. I'm going to carry a Hi-Lift as well for lifting the Jeep up to get under it.

I was wondering why nobody makes a billet hi-lift...

I put it on the front bumper of the LJ for one trip but I looked like too much of a mall crawler so I took it off :ROFLMAO:.

Dad has one mounted on the sami and has usually been with us on the bigger trips so I haven't carried mine.
