Looks awesome. I wonder what the final weight will be

I’m a little concerned about the final weight. I know the Lexus won’t have any trouble with it but I’d like to pull it with Jeannie’s Jeep some too. I’m not opposed to building another one out of aluminum.

I think you will be fine on the highway but on the trails you will definitely know it's back there. But it looks great.

I'm sure your Lexus and JK brakes are better than my jeep. But... my little popup is about 1,000lb stock, probably pushing double that as it sits now and loaded for a weekend. You definitely know it's back there and you can feel it pushing you especially down hills offroad. Muddy trails could get sketchy without brakes.

Yep that's something I'll have to think about once I see how it feel on the road.

With the JK I’m glad I have breaks on our teardrop. You can buy the spindles from timbres that have the brake flanges on them. It makes a huge difference off-road.

Got the roof metal bent at S&S welding. Fit pretty good after a little heat and a 2# sledge. Hooked up to the XJ and pulled around the yard and in the ditch. Seems to pull good and doesn’t feel too heavy but haven’t added the 26gal water tank and big a$$ fridge yet. Oh and the two batteries. I’m really pleased with the look and function of it so far. Just worried if the suspention will handle the weight . If not I will upgrade to the 3500# set up and build another lighter one with the 2000# that I have now. Anybody want one I work for Bud Light. Still so excited to get this thing on the road.

Welded and blended the corners. After rhino lining it should look good.

Need to order some gas lifting shocks for the side doors. Sounds simple but for some reason I'm a little confused on what weight and length to order. Anyone got some insight on this?

I can help you calculate it. I did it for mine when I made my camping trailer lid. Need to know some dimensions of your lid and where you plan to mount your lift strut.

Brooks did you directly from Timbren? I’m thinking about ordering a set of 4” spindles with break flanges. That might fix two problems. The tire clearance in the wheel wells and the need for breaks.

The trailer company I used on the teardrop ordered straight from timbren. I called timbren a few times before I had mine built and discussed which option would be best and why. They were very helpful and interested in what people build with their parts.

Like I needed any more weight on this thang. Not so sure about the awning mount. Had to get it away from the doors and the RTT. It’s bolted on so I guess I can change it later if it don’t work out.
