White TJ build

Yeah the hardtop certainly rules out the CJ latches. I think you would need to just cut out the whole area were the hinges are so that they rest on the tub again to reinstall the factory ones. I don’t know if it would seal or latch right otherwise.

There should be a fairly simple clean looking solution. Get you a CJ Tailgate if that's what you want to run and I'm sure you or someone can come up with something. You're welcome to borrow my tailgate to mock something up if you want.

Maybe just run a different weather stripping on the window would allow it to seal and pull past. Not sure what that gap actually would be though.

Eh don’t necessarily want a CJ tailgate. I think it would be sweet but nothin I care to put money into now. Think I’ve decided to say screw it and just put the spacers in the tailgate and drill some holes in the corners for hung mounts

Got the holes drilled for the tailgate hinge. Wasn’t too bad. Still need to add the spacer plates to the tailgate itself but did get the corners and cowl sent off to Bud today so I’m ready to see how those turn out once installed.

Also, maxbilt made their order right and sent me a driver taillight and a return slip so I could ship the extra passenger side one back to them.

Waiting on my fenders to come back from paint so I got my rear shock mounts frenched in today. Wasn’t to bad but I’ve only got about 9-10” of travel. Way I set this up I got 5” downtravel and 4” up.

Did a little more tinkering today. Mounted the shocks and took a hot lap around the neighborhood. They are rubbing just a slight bit, I knew it would be close, but I think a lil flap disk will take care of it

Painted my mounting hardware for my rear corners since I haven’t found stainless hardware yet. Added the spacer for the tailgate hinge. Painted them white with some left over paint I had. And also mounted my license plate in my old Tire carrier location. Not sure what or if I’m going to do about a tag light, suggestions welcome. 79762177549aa056ec499155ccb69c4b.jpg
Also did a ballpark alignment on the front and shortened the draglink to gain more “left” turning radius. Got lucky and somehow the steering wheel is even centered now when I’m going straight. Took it around the neighborhood again and it tracks straight and feels good! 3c7f69c07c7f1a29b1110307c7fba8a4.jpg

Well after just a little over a year I finally got the TJ back on the trails! I took it easy and honestly was a lil nervous something might go boom lol but it stayed in one piece and did pretty dang good! I might be wanting hydro assist sooner than later cause steering 37’s while locked on anything with traction sucked!

Got the rear corner armors back from bud. And love em they really tie it all together finally. Also installed my maxbilt Trail tail lights. Need to get the other 6lug wheels on my MTRs so I can drive it around town too this summer! Enough rambling. Time for pics

Haven’t updated in a while so might as well... been enjoying driving it again since the rebuild. Drives better than it did when I started cutting it up! But still have a few things to do. After my second trip out I believe age and a bad cut finally took its toll on my one my krawlers. Took it to the guy in Travelers rest and he fixed it for free cause he didn’t think it was gonna hold. Still haven’t had it out since but hopefully will soon!
One Sunday was driving around town and out to the lake and lunch and got back in the yard and something felt loose. I looked out the window and my front driver tire was going left when I was turning right! The nut had fallen off the bottom of the tie rod. Thank god I was in the yard and not doing 60mph. Put a **** ton of loctite and a lock washer on it and it’s good now. 59806d71ae0b6652878e307f0707f513.jpg
Had a wheel stud start free spinning on the front driver wheel and couldn’t get the lug nut off to take the wheel off so I finally chopped it off this weekend 8bc75ec01c5c438463947a4acd53287e.jpg
Next I n d to somehow align my rear axle. It looks like it wanting to walk some like it’s not square and true. Any tips on Best DIY 4 link alignment I’m all ears
