What did you do to your rig Today? V2.0

Went to the upstate today and brought home a prize. 1948 CJ2a. Very very original. Even came with the original tires and wheels. Gonna clean it and mothball it so i can get to work on the YJ and stretch it and repower, but it is going to be hard. This is gonna be a fun jeep. Gonna stay stock also. To original to really mod it.

Nice. Is this model equipped wirh a PTO? The wife of my childhood best friend inherited her grandfather's graduation gift, a brand new 1946 CJ-2A, complete with factory installed PTO and it even had the original owner's manual that had a section on how to plow a field with it. Apoarently, with all the countless surplus GP's everywhere, they once tried to market them as an akternative to a small tractor.

Sent by the CIA using the fillings in my teeth.

This one didnt have a PTO. I have had them a few times before, but i only had the PTO and nothing else. it would be fun to have a gear box in the back to run a bushhog or something :)

Some more pictures of the Jeep. I have it unloaded and pressure washed.
The silver lining to the Jeep arrival is it has been welcomed with open arms from the children and wife. The wife is actually in love with it and instructed me to not do the stretch or engine swap on the Wrangler and to concentrate on the Willys. And my daughter sat down with me this after noon and pulled out a notepad and started making a list of things that needed to be done to the jeep and would write down a price on what i told her what it is estimate to be. :)

Biggest thing to to figure out what the original color was. I see green, but under the serial number it is red. i kind of trust that one the most.

I pulled the ratty tires off the rims. Alot of rust. 4 rims are alike, the 5th is just a touch wider. I had one rims that was totally rotted bad around the valve stem hole. I think that rim is going to dumpster. so now i have 3 the same size and one that is just 1/4 wider.

My daughter is excited to be in it. She never wants me to sell it, and it will be the car she learns to drive in. :)

That things awesome man. I'd love to pick up something like that or a m38 and just clean it up, make it driving, and throw some mud terrains on.

Been working on a swinging tire carrier for Art. Picked up a trailer axle stub shaft from Tractor Supply and machine a piece of 2 inch steam pipe to fit the bearing races, seal, and cap. e2746a64a0927532b09a3f48bafa38e7.jpg 5c294002a722b10e6198c87e9d133d37.jpg aad01b879d327c69dec387a029ecaf90.jpg 6cd32c677e919bcb0fc3391e447d7faf.jpg

I love those. I wish I hadn't trashed mine. 285s and a heavy foot did not do well for the drivetrain. It was a good all purpose camping rig though that drove nice on the road.
