Tent Camp? How crowded was the State Park? One last question, how bad were the skeeters in the campground. We rent a house when we get to go to Edisto and have never stayed in the Park. Thinking about doing some tent camping there this summer.

Thanks

yeah, we were in a tent. It was booked up according to the reservations, but there were open sites that we saw. We camped in the live oak campground friday night and at the beach front campground sat night. The campsites are supposedly only reservable for 7 days at a time, but I found two that had not been reserved and called them up. So we stayed 2 nights down there. For memorial day weekend the state park end of the beach was pretty open, I had plenty of room saturday to drive a 50mph rc car in front of us and no get near anyone else.

The highs were in the low 80s and the lows were in the low 60s, the wind was blowing most of the time, there were some sand nats sunday morning on the beach, but all in all the bugs weren't bad.

here is a picture from the live oak campground.

and this was a pic from the beachfront site, this was taken from my hammock at our site.

i've spent so much time at edisto over the years, love that place. This was the last weekend you want to tent camp there. The Heat is extremely unbearable (for me the fat kid anyway) in the summer time in a tent. There is absolutely no-where to go to get away from it. The beach front park is the best for tent camping w/ the nice breeze and all, but i have stayed in the live oak a few times. The bugs are much worse at the live oak campground.

we only tent camp at the beach late september-may, other than that its just too hot. We head for the mountains in the summer.

Yeah we went and tried to walk some of the trails over at the Live Oak and the skeeters chased us back to the truck. Edisto is our dream home away from home. Botany Bay is the icing on the cake. When we get to go, we dont won't to go home. We will be staying on Palmetto Labor Day week.
Looking for beach camping to take the grandson for the weekends......I can imaging the heat. Might just have to take him to the beach, Botany Bay, for the day and go camp at Hot Springs.

we went over to botany bay road to check it out.

Did you walk the causeway out to the beach? We go out there and spend the day a good bit. I noticed some time back that yall posted pics from Hot Springs. How often do yall camp up there?

we just went down the road, I just wanted to check out our options for future trips, I'm not even sure whats back there.

we go to hotsprings usually every year

All roads into and on the property are groomed but nice to travel and be tourons. The walk out to the beach is nice and the beach is all natural. Don't dare pick up any shells for keeps. $500 fine if caught. Good fishing from the surf and inland creeks. I think that there is two launch areas for yaks and canoes. We've been to one of them. Two fish lakes but again no keepers and you have to have a youth with you to fish them. Its just nice and quiet. Not many people.....

You used to be able to take a certain ammt. They must have changed it. I still have some. One of my good friends has a bomb house back in the woods around there. We visit every yr.

Now that I think about it. I was told you could take only what you could carry in your hand. May not be true. There are some jumbo conks. Rock out with your conk out ones.
