Warn powerplant discontinued

#1
I'm considering buying a used warn power plant winch. I noticed that they are now discontinued and I remember one of our sponsors is a Warn dealer. I was curious if it was discontinued because of a high failure rate or low demand. Anybody know?

I can't say on why they would be discontinued but from working on them in the past, the issues I saw were pressure switches and the pump assemblies needing to be replaced. Rarely saw any in for winch related issues with them. Its been a while but if i recall correctly the pump runs all the time, even when winching so it sees alot of use.

As a side note, sometimes mud dobbers would build nests in the air outlet and it would cause the pressure switch to trigger everything to shut off (as it should) but while winching, thats not ideal on a self recovery haha. Super quick/easy fix with a pick, but people use to send them in for repairs because of that.

Again, I've been out of it for a number of years now so take it with a large grain of salt.
