Uwharrie Workday Interest

I've been hearing that there is more and more work to be done at Uwharrie with less and less participation at the work days. Who would be interested in helping out at a workday? They are typically the 3rd Saturday of each month and meet at the outpost at 8:00 am. I'll get more info if we have a decent crowd interested, but I read something about free camping at Arrowhead for volunteers. So, we could go up for a weekend and work one day wheel one day.

May is out and June is hot, but I would say we either shoot for June 20th or wait until Sept 19th...

Yes you can camp for free. Work days are traditionally done by 3 or 4. You are also given a trail pass for that day. Hours are recorded and submitted for funds too. There is actually usually a good number of people there. However there is a lot of work that needs to get done. On top of the fact that some of the guardrail we put up over the winter was snatched down......

I'll also add this. Savery, Theresa -FS <tsavery@fs.fed.us> That is the ranger there that sends out the info on work days. I get updates from her as I'm on the email list. They also have an adopt a trail program but I am unaware of what is entailed with it. There is always a post on NC4x4 about upcoming work days and what they want done. They meet at the Hunt Camp at 9 am to sign in and get passes.

Good question, should I create a new forum section for Trail work days? I could put it under the great outdoors or offroad parks section?
My suggestion would be to have URE section here: http://www.offroadsc.com/forumdisplay.php?45-Offroad-Parks

The NC4x4 forum is here: http://www.nc4x4.com/forum/uwharrie-news.16/

These two guys are the main one working and organizing the work days with the forest service: Darin aka krzyabncanuck: http://www.nc4x4.com/members/krzyabncanuck.494/ Chris aka snappy: http://www.nc4x4.com/members/snappy.4387/
