So I had a catastrophic failure on the last ride with the General. The transmission blew up. Turf mode malfunctioned and loose parts got in the gears and busted out the case. They are known for these failures and I was planning on a rebuild anyway but now I have to replace the whole thing. I bought a new one with all the upgrades I wanted. Turf mode delete,double reverse chains, stonger case and a few other upgrades.

Its basically a really weak selectable rear locker. Everyone ive known with one of these has grenaded it. Once its straightened out though these things are awesome. Great mix of fun with a enough practicality to justify keeping around for farm/yard stuff. They ride great.

Turf mode is nice on grass or a gravel driveway but too much of a liability on the trail.

Apparently the electronic solenoid for the turf mode shorts out when it gets wet and goes into turf mode in the worst time.

sounds like the delete is the best plan of attack then.

Got my new one in and it seems to be solid. It was a bitch tho!

Only bad thing with a side by side.....whole things comes apart for anything. Dad had to strip his to the chassis to replace the starter bendix.
