Viair 450P Air Compressor Hack

#1
So bought a Viair 450P compressor for filling tires and such on trips after borrowing other peoples forever. It works well, I used it this past weekend at OSCAR. One thing I found was that because this is an automatic air compressor it comes with a normally closed fill gun with gauge. This sounds great because the compressor automatically shuts off when it reaches a certain psi. But there is no way to hold the trigger on the gun to fill the tire. So in order to fill the tire you have to sit by the tire for 2 minutes for each tire.

It has this gun:

My initial thought was I can get a spring clamp from lowes or harbor freight and just keep it with my compressor. like this:

Is there anything I'm missing on this? Does anyone have any crafty ideas to let me not babysit this thing while its inflating. I figure I can figure out the time it takes to go from 10 to 30 and just use that as a general idea in the future.

What does it mean by automatic? Can you set the pressure it cuts off at, or just that it cuts off at 150psi?

If it cuts off at 150, could you make a quick connect setup with an inline regulator set to street pressure and an open air chuck? Even better would be branch to 2 or 4 chucks after the regulator to inflate multiple at once.

The compressor automatically cuts on when it senses pressure less than 130psi and shuts off at 155psi. So its automatic in the sense that you can switch between tires and check the pressure in them without switching the compressor off.

I need to look into this inline regulator, thats probably the ticket.

As long as you distracted then all will be good but if you do you may be looking for a tire. Not likey but possable.
So, that is very possible with the standard style compressor, you attach the hose and then turn the compressor on and its just on and connected until you release it.
